Terms of Service

This is a working draft of Yardlancer's Terms of Service. It has not yet had a formal legal review and should get one, particularly around liability and dispute handling, before this app is available beyond a small test group.

What Yardlancer Is

Yardlancer is a local marketplace connecting teens with gig and service opportunities in their own community. Yardlancer is not an employer, is not a party to any agreement between a gig poster and the person who completes it, and does not process payment for completed gigs — money for real-world work is handled directly between the two people involved, outside the app.

Who Can Use It

Any account under 13 must be linked to a verified parent or guardian account before using any feature beyond that linking flow itself. Posting or claiming a Premium-tier (higher-value) gig requires an 18-or-older account. Accounts 13 through 17 can use standard features without a parent link.

Your Conduct

Be honest about the work you're offering or able to do. Show up when you say you will, or tell the other person as soon as you know you'll be late — this app tracks and reflects both. Don't harass, threaten, or attempt to contact someone who has blocked you. Don't post content that's abusive, dangerous, or exploitative — this is reviewed both by an automated first pass and by real user reports, and can result in content removal or account restriction.

Content You Post

You keep ownership of what you post (listings, comments, reviews), but you're responsible for it, and you grant Yardlancer the right to display it to other users as the app's core function requires. Reviews reflect your honest assessment of a completed gig — reviews found to be dishonest or retaliatory may be removed.

Safety and Liability

Yardlancer facilitates introductions between people who then meet and work in person. We do not run background checks, do not supervise gigs, and cannot guarantee the safety, legality, or outcome of any gig arranged through the app. Use real judgment, especially for in-person meetings — the safety features in this app (ratings, location sharing during active gigs, parent linking for younger accounts) are meant to help with this, not replace it.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This is immediate and permanent, and removes your account and the content tied to it.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated draft status.
